Our legal basis
- Contract: to answer your enquiry, take your booking and carry out the work.
- Legitimate interests: to keep our website secure, and to update you on the progress of your car.
- Legal obligation: to keep business and accounting records.
Updates about your car
If you give us a mobile number or email address, we send you a text or email when your car moves to certain stages, for example when it is on the ramp, has its health check in progress, is waiting for its test drive and inspection, or is ready to collect. These messages are about your booking only. We do not send marketing messages.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your data. We use trusted providers to run our service, and they only handle data for us:
- Cloudflare hosts our website and stores our records.
- Resend delivers our emails.
- TextBee delivers our text messages.
Some of these providers are based outside the UK. Where data is transferred, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses. We may also share data where the law requires it, for example with the police or a regulator.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries: up to 12 months.
- Bookings: up to 12 months after the appointment.
- Job history and notes, including warranty work: up to 6 years, in case of warranty claims or disputes and for accounting.
- Website security records: a few minutes to a few days.
After that we delete the data or make it anonymous.
How we protect it
Our website uses HTTPS. Our workshop system is password protected and only our staff can see customer records. Your car's tracking page shows only the progress of the vehicle registration you enter.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the data we hold about you;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete your data, or restrict how we use it;
- stop using your data where we rely on legitimate interests;
- move your data to another provider.
Contact us using the details above and we will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
